Cardinal Communications, a student-run communications agency in Ball State University’s Department of Journalism, received three awards at the Hoosier PRSA Chapter Awards Ceremony. This was the best showing in the three years that the agency has entered the competition and the first time one received a “Best in Show” designation. Cardinal Communication submitted three entries and they received awards for all of them.
The competition was open to all colleges and universities in the state. Besides Cardinal Communications, Purdue received two awards.
The awards were judged by a California PRSA chapter and the student work was assessed against the same standards at the professional entries. Each entry is evaluated on its own merit and the award levels are based on the number of points they receive: judges are not required to give awards if entries don’t meet the criteria. Thus, it’s truly a sound validation of the quality of the students’ work to receive the awards.
